Jazzercise Supports Augie’s Quest
Jazzercise has been invited to join the Clubs for the Cure/Augie’s Quest Team that is committed to finding the cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Jazzercise founder Judi Sheppard Missett has felt the effects of this disease firsthand as she watched her mother pass away after suffering from ALS. Giving back to the community is Judi’s philosophy and this cause hits particularly close to home. She feels it is important to raise funds for a cure for ALS and to broaden awareness of this disease. This is an opportunity for Judi and many others to help in the effort to save lives - what a great thing.
Augie Nieto, the founder of Augie’s Quest, was diagnosed in March 2005 with ALS at the age of 48. Augie, a prominent leader in the nation’s health and fitness industry for the past three decades as co-founder and former president of Life Fitness, is applying his successful research entrepreneurial strategies to medical research and development. He, along with the ALS research team, has created new approaches in search of treatments and a cure for this disease. In the first two years, Augie’s Quest has raised over $12 million. However, this research initiative has just begun and needs your help in continuing to raise the funds necessary for this effort to be successful. To learn more about how you can become a member of the Clubs for the Cure/Augie’s Quest Team or to make a donation, please visit www.clubsforthecure.com or call Jessica Hayes at 732-219-5333.
Jazzerthon For The Cure
More than 500 Jazzercise enthusiasts from Georgia and Northeast Florida participated in the sixth annual Jazzerthon for the Cure to benefit the Susan G. Komen For The Cure – Atlanta affiliate. More than $215,000 was raised, marking the third consecutive year fund raising efforts exceeded $200,000. The participants Jazzercised for three hours, beginning with a class where customers joined their instructors on stage – complete with costumes. Taping Team member Chere van Ligten was a special guest instructor – she dazzled the participants with a special tube/core workout followed by a special stretching segment and a fabulous Jazzercise class.
More than $1,000,000 has been raised for Komen For The Cure through this event over the past six years. Next year’s event will take place February 15, 2009 in Atlanta.
