Winter Skin Care Tips

Just because the weather outside is frightful, doesn’t mean your skin has to be. Cold, dry air can leave skin red, blotchy and dehydrated. With the right care and nutrition, you can turn a fresh face towards winter doldrums.

Jazzercise Founder and CEO Judi Sheppard Missett recommends following these steps to keep your skin noticeably fresh and healthy.

Exfoliate Your Epidermis
Regular facials from a professional will keep your skin clean, hydrated and exfoliated. Dead cells are dull, clog pores, and make it hard for your skin to breathe. Remove these flakey cells and you will enable fresh skin to receive nourishment and reveal your own healthy glow!

Help for Hands and Feet
Thin skin around hands and feet has fewer oil glands so it is hard to keep them hydrated. A glycerin-based moisturizer will draw moisture up through skin layers, and prevent excessive drying. Exfoliating will help the moisturizer sink in fast and deep.

Drench Your Skin
Cold outside air combined with warm indoor air can leave your face dry and tight. For supple skin, use moisturizers that contain unsaturated fatty acids such as avocado, primrose or almond oil. Similar to the oil our skin produces, these moisturizers are easily absorbed.

Plump Up Your Pores
Deficiencies in vitamins A, B complex, and C, can age skin. Vitamin A maintains soft, smooth, healthy skin; pantothenic acid (B5) protects against cellular damage, and vitamin C’s primary function is to manufacture collagen. The best way to get your vitamins is through a diet that’s rich in fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Feed Your Face
What’s good on the inside is good on the outside. Homemade masks using mango, honey, strawberries, and cucumbers nourish and moisturize. Oats have anti-inflammatory properties, and will calm red, irritated skin. Plus, this cheap alternative is chemical free. 

You don’t have to chill your cheeks in the outside air to get that rosy glow. Follow these steps and you’ll have beautiful skin that gets noticed.
